ELEMENTARY TEACHER

CERTIFIED ELEMENTARY TEACHER WANTED:

Looking for enthusiastic professionals who enjoy creative, “out of the box” methods of teaching, and who are currently residing on the island of O’ahu. We are a Nā Mea Hawai’i through Arts Integration school that encourages passion/project/place-based learning for our students. We seek teachers and leaders who are dedicated to working within our community, who are innovative in the use of technology and materials available, and are hard working and passionate about what they do. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Provide an educational program that accommodates different learning styles and ability levels of children; and best utilize available time.

  • Primarily responsible for meeting curriculum requirements.

  • Develops current lesson plans (daily and weekly) and instructional materials that provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.

  • Establishes and maintains standards needed to achieve a positive learning environment in the classroom.

  • Evaluates student’s academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents on the individual student’s progress.

  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and barriers of learning.

  • Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities and Professional Development opportunities provided by Kamalani Academy and other organizations.

  • Keeps basic records and reports as required.

  • Participates cooperatively in the system of evaluation as provided by Kamalani Academy.

  • Within guidelines, selects, and requisitions books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies and assists in developing inventory records.

  • Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.

  • Administers group-standardized tests in accordance with State of Hawaii Department of Education testing program.

  • Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must hold a Hawaiʻi teaching license

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Master’s degree (preferred, but not required)
