Ku’uipo Murray is the Founder and current Board Chair of Kamalani Academy, a K-8, Na Mea Hawaii, arts integration, leadership-focused, public charter school located in Wahiawa, Hawaii, since 2016. She is also the founder of Kamalani Academy Foundation established in 2016, a non-profit providing support to Kamalani Academy and other educational non-profits.
Additionally, Ku’uipo is the founder of the Mana’olana Foundation in 2011, a local non-profit established to provide support to Native Hawaiian start-up businesses, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations. She served on the Project Management Institute (PMI) Honolulu chapter, a non-profit professional board, in several positions, including Education Director and Chapter President, for many years. Ku’uipo served on the Hawaii Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) non-profit board and established the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Hawaii non-profit chapter serving as an initial board member and subsequently, board mentor.
Ku’uipo is the founder of Mana’olana International, LLC, a project/program/portfolio management training and consulting company established 11 years ago. She has consulted and trained many local organizations in Hawaii and set up project/program management offices for Queens Health Systems, the State of Hawaii, financial institutions, insurance companies, educational organizations, private and public institutions, and many military branches in the State of Hawaii. Ku’uipo was a former co-founder of Project Professionals, LLC, a successful project management training company for 16 years.
Ku’uipo developed curriculum and taught project management courses for the University of Hawaii, Hawaii Pacific University, University of Phoenix, the Japan-American Institute of Management Science, and the local community colleges on several islands. Ku’uipo is a certified scrum master (CSM) and project management professional (PMP).
Ku’uipo is currently working towards her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Northcentral University. She earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a professional emphasis in Human Resources Management from Hawaii Pacific University and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Computer Science in End User Support and Training from Brigham Young University-Hawaii.
Ku’uipo is a native Hawaiian, and of Maori, Japanese, Irish/Scottish/English and Native American descent. She was born in Hawaii and has lived the majority of her life in the islands. Her background as a musician and dancer has afforded her many adventures performing across the globe. As a world traveler Ku’uipo has experienced people, places, cultures, food, music, dancing and adventures that most only dream about.
Most importantly, she is most proud of her 10 beautiful, amazing children and 7 incredible grandchildren whom she loves cooking for and spending time with whenever she can.
Ku’uipo has served in various church positions as a volunteer teaching children, youth, and adults alike for the past 30+ years, is a church pianist and organist and is a firm believer in God, and in her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Her personal motto is: Love God and Love Others and demonstrate this through her daily actions.
